Cub Scout Pack 99 serves elementary school students in Weddington, Waxhaw, Marvin, Matthews, and Wesley Chapel.  


About Cub Scout Pack 99

Cub Scout Pack 99 is a family‑oriented Cub Scout pack serving the Weddington, North Carolina community. Our pack provides youth with opportunities to learn, grow, and have fun in a safe, supportive environment.

We focus on helping Scouts build:

  • Character and leadership
  • Confidence and teamwork
  • Outdoor skills and adventure
  • Respect for others and the community

Cub Scouting is designed for youth in kindergarten through fifth grade and emphasizes hands‑on activities, age‑appropriate challenges, and positive role models. Our program includes camping, hikes, service projects, games, and special events that help Scouts learn by doing.

Pack 99 is powered by dedicated volunteer leaders and engaged families. We encourage parents and guardians to take an active role in meetings, outings, and events—Cub Scouting works best when families participate together.

We welcome new Scouts and families year‑round. Whether you’re new to Scouting or transferring from another pack, we’d love to meet you.

Weekend Campouts - Families Invited!
Several times during the year, the Pack organizes weekend campouts.  Usually, the Scout's entire family is welcomed to join.  Some families have their first camping experience while in Scouts, while others are more seasoned.  

The camping weekends are typically within a 1 to 3 hour drive of Weddington; they may be in the mountains, on a lake, in a historic national park, or other areas of interest.

 Cub Scouts must be accompanied by a parent on all outings, and parents are encouraged to participate in all meetings and activities.

Pack 99 Pinewood Derby Design Rules: Each entry shall be constructed from an up-to-date B.S.A. Pinewood Derby Car Kit for the current year. A new car must be built for each year. All nine pieces must be used. The car must be free rolling. No starting devices are allowed. Overall dimensions  (length & width) -  The car must not be greater than 2 & 3/4 inches wide (including wheels) by 7 inches long (including accessories). 2025 Pinewood Derby Guide - Design Tips

Five main parts of a good design: Maximize momentum.   Have a car that is as close to 5.0 ounces as possible, without going over.  Place most of the weight in the rear of the car, so it has the farthest distance to travel downhill (i..e, weight at the front of the car will have a few inches less downhill travel). Aerodynamic shape .  The difference between a square front and sloped front may provide a negligible advantage, but every advantage counts! Axle and wheel preparation.   Make the axles as smooth and polished as possible.  Ensure the wheel running surface is flat and without any burs. Lubrication.   Use only dry graphite as as lubricant.  Apply some right before race time to ensure the axles stay as lubricated as possible.
